Coinciding with the celebration of World Tourism Resilience Day, the Spanish Government’s Deputy Delegate in Lleida, José Crespín, visited our winery on Monday, February 17. He also toured the Casa Llobera 1792 rural accommodation and La Viña de los Artistas at Mas Blanch i Jové Winery in La Pobla de Cérvoles. These three tourism projects exemplify Les Garrigues' commitment to becoming a leading destination for sustainable and responsible tourism.

During the visit, we had the pleasure of sharing with Mr. José Crespín our vision of wine tourism as a driver of economic and social development in the region. Our project is deeply rooted in the territory, aiming not only to offer unique experiences to visitors but also to promote the region’s landscape, cultural, and gastronomic values.

A Commitment to Sustainable Tourism

The United Nations established World Tourism Resilience Day in 2023 to highlight the importance of diversifying and strengthening the tourism sector, connecting it with nature, innovation, and sustainability. In this regard, the Deputy Delegate emphasized that initiatives like those of Vinya els Vilars, Casa Llobera, and Mas Blanch i Jové are fully aligned with the objectives of the Tourism Sustainability Plans in Destinations Program. According to Crespín, these projects share a common goal:

"Revitalizing tourism in Les Garrigues and establishing the region as a key destination in the growing sector of sustainable tourism."

Crespín also highlighted the €15.4 million investment in the province of Lleida through the Tourism Sustainability Plans in Destinations Program, launched by the Spanish Government as part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan. This initiative, financed by Next Generation EU funds, aims to enhance competitiveness and sustainability in the tourism sector.

At Vinya els Vilars, we reaffirm our commitment to Les Garrigues, working daily to offer high-quality wine tourism that respects the environment, strengthens the local economy, and positions the region as a sustainable tourism destination, all while staying true to our essence.

World Tourism Resilience Day

On February 17, 2023, the United Nations declared World Tourism Resilience Day to promote a more diversified and resilient tourism industry. The objective is to expand tourist attractions, foster a stronger connection with nature and landscapes, and encourage innovation and digital transformation within the sector.
